Regular shoots are held monthly which participants can make as formal or social as desired. For safety reasons SASS Rules are applied. This means that:

  • Wearing of eye and ear protection is obligatory
  • The commands of the designated range officer are absolutely binding
  • Guns are only loaded in designated loading areas
  • Five rounds to be loaded in a six-shot cylinder - hammer on an empty chamber
  • At the firing point guns must always point down range
  • During stages no walking/running with a cocked firearm
  • After finishing a stage guns are to be holstered

Other rules may be imposed as necessary. These rules serve to ensure that everyone can have a save and enjoyable time.

Shooting is normally at steel plates and swinging targets with distances between 5 and 15 meters for handguns, if rifles are involved distances will grow accordingly. The time is taken and missed targets are added to the score as five extra seconds per miss, no reloading during stages apart from shotgun shoots. It generally pays to concentrate on accuracy. A stage has usually ten targets which means that two revolvers are required to complete a stage. As not everyone may be thus armed, newcomers may discover that real Cowboys are a friendly sharing kind. If required smaller stages are set-up to accomodate those Townfolks who enter gunfights only "half heeled".

The wearing of period clothing is encouraged and helps to create the right atmosphere. We are striving to find suppliers of appropriate paraphernalia and managed to find a good source of reasonably prized holsters which found great interest. If you can be of assistance with other related items, please contact us.

We generally meet on the third weekend of the month at 10 am, have a lunch break around High Noon (no chuck wagon supplied) and usually turn our horses home at around 3.30 pm.
