Who are Pioneer Creek Rangers?

The club was established by some enthusiastic shooters in Pretoria in 2005 as a gun club to practice and promote the sport of western action shooting, initially with black powder firearms. The club now practices Cowboy Action Shooting ™ as defined by the Single Action Shooting Society ™ as well as Wild Bunch ™ and black powder shooting

Pioneer Creek Rangers is a non-racial, non-gender discriminating and non-political organisation and is open to anyone with similar interests.

Visitors interested in these shooting disciplines are welcome subject to a briefing by the Range Officer on the safety rules, completing an indemnity form and the shooting register. Ear and eye protection must be worn at all times by all shooters, officials and spectators near the firing line when shooting is in progress.

Club meetings are held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. On a typical day members start arriving around 7 am with CAS™ shooting from 9 to 12 am (or later, depending on planned activities).

How to find us

We use the Defence Force shooting range to the south of Pretoria opposite the Voortrekker Monument. The turn-off is in Eufees road (M7), roughly half-way between the Ben Schoeman (N14) and the Old Jo'burg Road (R 101, Jan Smuts Drive). You turn south off Eufees onto a dirt road and follow this, keeping right at the split, until you turn left towards an entrance flanked by two cannon-shells. Go through the entrance and follow this road (which is not in good condition) until you get to the top – our range is just to the left.

See the following map for directions.
